Description
Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ is a free-flowering perennial Allium with a clear lavender to light purple flower colour. The cultivar combines a fresh appearance with a compact, uniform growth habit and fits well within the group of modern senescens-type selections in terms of reliability and garden performance.
The plant forms sturdy clumps with upright flower stems. During flowering, numerous spherical umbels appear close together, creating a neat and uniform overall effect. Thanks to its long flowering period and consistent performance, ‘Lavender Bubbles’ is well suited to both private gardens and professional landscape plantings.
Like other recent cultivars, this Allium is strong, low-maintenance and highly attractive to pollinating insects.
Personal evaluation
A beautiful, darker-flowering selection among summer-blooming Alliums. Compared with the popular ‘Millennium’, ‘Lavender Bubbles’ flowers later and has a deeper purple flower colour. First availability is expected in autumn 2026.

Origin
The species Allium senescens is native to Central and East Asia, including Mongolia, Siberia, northern China and Kazakhstan, where it grows on dry, rocky slopes and open grasslands.

At the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ achieved second place in the Plant of the Year 2021 competition, organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.
