Agapanthus 'Fireworks ®'

Origin2010- Andy De Wet- South-Africa
Description

Fireworks is the first ever-flowering, evergreen, two-tone Agapanthus in the world! In 2008, Quinton and Andy of De Breed Plant Breeding got 12000 seeds to germinate and in 2010 they selected Fireworks because they already showed their first flowers. Fireworks was recently awarded the AGM by the RHS after a test period of four years. Fireworks has proven to be hardy to -10 ºC, which is more hardy than other evergreen and bi-colored Agapanthus. It has short, clean, thick, green leaves and is resistant to crown rot. The petioles are dark and form a great contrast with the flowers. Fireworks has large umbels with many flowers per umbel. Fireworks has a long flowering period of at least 3 months.

At the Chelsea flower show of 2019 it achieved third place as the best new plant!
